Copenhagen...
I'm in Copenhagen for a few days after the Faroe trip to chill and tour the town before heading back to work. I met with Gavin Ivester who I have not seen since working with him at Apple sometime around 1994. He was the VP of Industrial Design for Bang and Olufsen until recently. We had lunch and caught up on life with kids and work. Copenhagen is a great city to walk around in and history has some meaning here with buildings older than the USA.
I walked into Christiania today in Copenhagen. It's an alternative lifestyle that is self governing community. They don't allow cars or money to be used and pot is available in stands around the area. Pretty interesting
Christiania has represented criticism of and opposition to the ruling powers since its birth in 1971. The Freetown has always experimented with creating a society built on a large degree of active participatory democ-racy dedicated to the possibility of individual freedom and self-fulfilment. All of Christiania’s residents may participate on an equal footing in the democratic process which forms the local society. Important decisions are always made by consensus, that is, common and widespread agreement among the participants. Therefore, Christiania’s form of government is often called consensus democracy.
